Introducing BCIA’s chosen charity -Air Ambulances UK

The BCIA (Building Controls Industry Association) is proud to announce that it has chosen Air Ambulances UK as its nominated charity for 2026-2028. As a result, the organisation will be asking members to take part in fundraising and awareness-raising activities throughout the two years, helping to highlight the crucial role air ambulance charities play in the UK’s emergency response system.

Air Ambulances UK champions and supports the lifesaving work of the UK’s 21 air ambulance charities, which provide advanced pre-hospital care to patients experiencing life-threatening injury or illness.

Air ambulance charities are funded almost entirely by donations, with each mission costing on average £4,165*. This partnership will help ensure air ambulance crews can continue delivering rapid, lifesaving care across the UK.

On average an air ambulance can reach someone in urgent need within 15 minutes. Air ambulance charities are collectively dispatched to over 134 lifesaving missions each day across the UK and each mission is funded almost entirely by the generosity of local communities.

Together, our goal is to make a difference by enabling air ambulance charities to save even more lives and remain at the forefront of pre-hospital care, helping to reduce loss of life in people with life-threatening injuries or a medical emergency.

Jen Vickers, BCIA President, said: “We’re proud to support Air Ambulances UK as our charity partner for the next two years. Their lifesaving work across the UK aligns closely with our values, and we look forward to engaging our members in fundraising activities that make a real difference for air ambulance crews and the patients they serve.”

*Costs vary depending on location, operational models, and patient needs.
