With entries to the building controls and automation sector’s most prestigious awards, the BCIA Awards 2026, closing on Thursday 22nd January, the Building Controls Industry Association is urging individuals and organisations from across the industry to ensure nominations are submitted urgently.‍ ‍

Ricardo Miller’s rapid rise from apprentice to one of E.ON Controls Solutions’ top BMS Service Commissioning Engineers in just three years saw him take home this year’s Building Controls Industry Association (BCIA) Apprentice of the Year award.

While the category featured a myriad of superb entries, Group Horizon’s BEMS controls engineer apprenticeship scheme particularly stood out, with an impressive learner retention rate of 91.1% and the number of cohorts substantially exceeding their expectations.

SSE Energy Solutions’ Project Sales Engineer, Zoe Dickson, was the deserving winner of this year’s Building Controls Industry Association’s (BCIA’s) Young Engineer of the Year award.

CHt utilised a combination of robust planning, through early stakeholder engagement, and design for manufacture and assembly (DfMA) expertise to achieve an early handover – despite major world challenges impacting supply chains and costs.
