Interim Management Committee Arrangements

Further to our earlier communication regarding BCIA President, Jen Vickers, we are pleased to share that Jen continues to make excellent progress on her recovery journey. While there is still a long road ahead, everyone involved in her care and recovery remains amazed by her strength, determination and positive spirit. We know many of you have been thinking of Jen and sending your good wishes, and we are grateful for the support and understanding shown by the BCIA community during this difficult time.

At its scheduled meeting on 9 September, the BCIA Management Committee considered the arrangements required to ensure continuity of leadership for the Association while Jen focuses on her recovery. Following careful consideration, the Committee unanimously agreed that Graeme Rees, former BCIA President with extensive experience of the Association, should be appointed as Interim President. Graeme will undertake this role until 1 March 2028, or earlier should Jen return to work and wish to resume her position as BCIA President.

The Committee also agreed that Ron Purcell will continue in his current role as Vice-President and will succeed to the Presidency on 1 March 2028, in line with the Association's normal succession arrangements.

The Management Committee believes this approach provides stability and continuity for the BCIA while maintaining our established election and succession cycle. It also ensures that Ron is able to enjoy a full term as President, while allowing the Association to benefit from Graeme's considerable experience and leadership during this period.

On behalf of the BCIA, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to Graeme and Ron for their support and willingness to serve the Association in these capacities. We would also like to thank the Management Committee for its ongoing support and guidance, and our members for their understanding as we have worked through these unprecedented circumstances.
