Opportunity: Building Controls Technical Trainer – BCM Courses (self-employed, part-time)

Will you lend your experience to support the next generation?

BCIA has been developing and delivering industry accredited training for many years. Our courses provide the most current and comprehensive learning programme for Building Controls Engineers and are recognised as the industry standard. We are now looking to appoint a part-time Trainer, on a self-employed basis to deliver BCIA technical courses. We have a series of course modules which range from BCM00 to BCM15. Course modules BCM00 - 06 have been in delivery for many years (over 20) with BCM07-15 being relatively new. As we look to support more engineers to further their building controls expertise, an additional Trainer is needed for delivery of BCM00-06. The full course descriptions are available on request.

Becoming a BCIA BCM Trainer

We do ask that all of our trainers complete the courses and pass the end of course exams for BCM00 - 06.

We offer BMC00 free of charge as an introduction for all our new trainers. The remaining courses (BCM01-06) must be completed initially at the expense of the Trainer – the costs will then be reimbursed in full on successful delivery of three training courses for the BCIA. The costs for these courses are £506+VAT for members and £666+VAT for non-members (per course). Once you have completed courses BCM00-06 you will be signed off to deliver your first training courses for the BCIA. If you have previously completed any or all of the courses, there is no need to sit them again.

All of the BCIA courses are currently delivered via Zoom with BCM00 being 1 day and BCM01 - 06 being 2 days. A full list of the current course dates is available on the website. We do also offer in-person classroom training alongside our Training partner Sontay and therefore the ability to deliver courses online and in-person is required.

We have a Trainer SLA which must be agreed and signed. This document sets out the expectations from you as a Trainer together with the fees and expenses which are paid by the BCIA. Examples from the SLA are an appendix to this document and are available at a further stage in the application process.
