Members of the BCIA Young Engineers Network have been exclusively invited to take part in a technical visit to Distech Controls European Head Office in Lyon, France.

The two-day visit will give young engineers the chance to take part in technical sessions, gain insights from interactive workshops and tour Distech Controls EU HQ, finding out more about production and logistics.

What will I learn?

Young engineers taking part in the visit will learn about Distech Controls expertise, technologies and facilities and will take part in interactive workshops and technical sessions:

  • Customer Experience: Manufacturer-agnostic exploration of what great customer experience looks like, with attendees applying the discussion to their own roles and companies.

  • Smart Buildings, AI & Systems Networking: Technically focused deep dive into how AI and networked/integrated systems are shaping smart buildings today. Attendees will explore how the concepts covered apply to their own projects and companies.

What’s included?

Distech Controls are kindly hosting the visit, meaning that the following is provided for attendees:

  • Travel to/from Distech Controls, restaurant and accommodation from within France (e.g. airport or Eurostar station)

  • Accommodation for 1 night (Wednesday 16th)

  • Food and drink during the visit

What’s NOT included?

Attendees (or their companies) will need to organise and pay for their an attendee’s:

  • Transport to/from France (suggested details below)

  • Travel insurance (this needs to be a business travel insurance policy that protects individuals during work-related trips)

The following flights have been identified as the most direct route with suitable timings, people choosing these flights will be met at Gatwick and Lyon by someone from the Young Engineers Network/Distech Controls:

How to apply

As places are limited there is a short application process - if there are more applications than places, the places will be assigned randomly. Applications close at midday on 5th August.

Those applying must:

  • Be aged 18 or over

  • Work for a BCIA member company

  • Agree to source and pay for their own flights and insurance*

  • Gain permission from their employer to attend

  • Have a valid passport, a UK passport must be valid for at least 3 months after your planned departure date (17th September).
